KBR's Australian Subsidiary Becomes Sub-Alliance Partner in South Morang Rail Extension Project

KBR (NYSE:KBR) today announced that its Australian-based Infrastructure and Minerals (I&M) business unit has joined the South Morang Rail Extension Project Alliance (Alliance) as a sub-Alliance partner for the South Morang Rail Extension Project (SMREP).

KBR will provide design, environmental management, and risk management services, and will also serve on the Alliance’s Management and Leadership teams.

The Victorian Government has allocated more than $650 million to the South Morang Rail Extension Project which will include duplication of the 5km (approximately three miles) single track between Keon Park and Epping and a 3.5km (approximately two miles) double track extension to South Morang. The project also includes new premium stations at Thomastown, Epping and South Morang and road overpasses at Cooper Street in Epping, Pindari Avenue in Mill Park and Civic Drive in South Morang.

“This award provides KBR the opportunity to further showcase its capabilities to deliver both large and small-scale rail projects that meet the growing needs of the country’s infrastructure,” said Colin Elliott, President, KBR Infrastructure and Minerals. “KBR has played a significant role in major rail projects in Victoria, and I am confident that the project team assigned to the SMREP will provide the same caliber of services and expertise that our clients have come to expect from KBR around the world.”
