Skanska (STO:SKAB) has secured the contract to construct the Legal Center (Rättscentrum) in Malmö. The customer is Vasakronan and the assignment amounts to about SEK 300 M, which will be included in fourth-quarter order bookings.
The project comprises a new building with 34,000 square meters of floor space. Skanska will be responsible for additions to the existing concrete structure and for the installation of fixtures and fittings. The property comprises a new seven-story building in addition to a lower building that will connect the new property to the existing police headquarters. The building will house, among others, Skåne County Police, the Swedish Prosecution Authority, the Swedish National Courts Administration, the Swedish Economic Crime Authority and the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
Project planning will commence immediately. Construction work is scheduled to commence in August 2011, with completion set for autumn 2012.
“We are proud that Vasakronan has chosen Skanska to construct the Legal Center in Malmö. Skanska’s experience from developing similar buildings in Malmö and in other regions in Sweden will be of great benefit in this significant project,” says Staffan Andersson, District Manager, Skanska Sverige.
Skanska will implement the work according to the Green Workplace concept, which is Skanska Sweden’s own environmental label for construction sites.
