It’s manufactured with 15,100 sq. ft. of innovative CarbonCast® High Performance Insulated Wall Panels that contribute to energy and cost savings without compromising aesthetics.

Each exterior precast panel is comprised of inner and outer concrete wythes connected by C-GRID® epoxy-coated fiber grid for shear transfer. The relatively low conductivity of C-GRID prevents thermal bridging and enables edge-to-edge, continuous insulation (c.i.) for a thermally efficient building envelope. The wall panels incorporated 4” of EPS insulation for an R-12 value to meet ASHRAE-90.1 requirements for a mass wall with continuous insulation.
The façade incorporates both a retarded and sandblasted finish. For dramatic entryways, polished granite veneer was cast into the wall panel and attached with stainless steel pins. Casting the granite into the wall at the plant sped the schedule and reduced the number of workers on site.
“The design team liked our continuous insulation design because they were trying to achieve LEED Gold status,” says Angela San Martin, P.E., LEED AP, Sales and Business Development Manager of Metromont Corporation, which fabricated the panels in its Hiram, Ga. plant. “Some of the design challenges we faced included how to make the punched-back window frame caulking detail work, how to maintain the continuous insulation detail, and how to design the C-GRID panels with some rather complicated architectural shapes.”
The CarbonCast High Performance Insulated Wall Panels also incorporate recycled materials and are strategically positioned towards the sun to achieve extraordinary levels of energy efficiency.
The design firm was Warren Epstein & Associates Architects, Inc., Atlanta, Ga., and the general contractor was R. J. Griffin, Atlanta, Ga.
