Pulte Homes has been honored as a top finisher in a study of environmentally friendly homebuilding practices as reported by Calvert Investments.
The study, titled A Green Recovery for America’s Homebuilders? A Survey of Sustainable Practices by the Homebuilding Industry, is an update to Calvert Investment’s 2008 analysis.
“Recognizing that consumer interest in energy efficient housing is growing, Pulte Homes is working hard to maintain its position among the leaders and innovators in sustainability,” said Deborah Wahl Meyer, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Pulte Homes. “We are pleased that our environmental stewardship has earned Pulte Homes a ranking among the top green homebuilders.”
Calvert Investments, a leader in sustainable and responsible investing, analyzed the green building practices of the top 10 largest publicly traded homebuilding companies in the nation. The Company examined the policies and procedures of each builder under the four key areas of energy use, building material use, water use, and land use and conservation of open space and habitat.
Jim Petersen, director of research and development for Pulte Homes stressed the Company’s dedication to green building. “We look forward to working with our trade partners and environmental agencies to continuously improve ways to maximize the energy and water efficiency of our homes while minimizing our impact on the environment,” he said. “We believe that over time, energy efficient building practices and products will provide a point of brand differentiation for our homes and communities.”
