Swedish Transport Administration Awards Trelleborg Line Rebuilding Contract to Sweco

Sweco (STO:SWECA)(STO:SWECB) has been chosen by the Swedish Transport Administration to plan the upcoming rebuilding of the Trelleborg Line.

The contract is worth close to EUR 3.3 million and will begin immediately. The project is scheduled for completion in 2016.

”There are many infrastructure projects underway in the Öresund region, such as the planned extension of the Southern Main Line and the City Circle Line in Copenhagen. Sweco’s expertise is in high demand we are in the process of recruiting many new consultants in this area,” says Eva Nygren, President of Sweco Sweden.

The Trelleborg Line will be adapted for passenger traffic so that freight traffic can continue to operate at the same time that passenger traffic is introduced between Trelleborg and Malmö. The trains between Trelleborg and Malmö will pass through the City Tunnel. It will take around 30 minutes to travel from Trelleborg to central Malmö, and less than an hour to Copenhagen. This reinforcement of public transport will make it possible to move traffic from the road to the railway, and thereby reduce climate impact.
