Skanska Buys Cast-in-Place Concrete Structures Builder, SkyBau

Skanska (STO:SKAB) is to acquire all shares in the Slovakian company SkyBau, which builds cast-in-place concrete structures.

The acquisition strengthens Skanska’s position in the building construction sector in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

SkyBau is a subcontractor in the construction sector and carries out in-place casting of concrete structures in primarily Slovakia, but also conducts operations in the Czech Republic and Germany. This type of activity was previously not performed by Skanska’s Slovakian construction operation.

“With the acquisition of SkyBau, we will strengthen our offering and increase our growth opportunities in Central Europe,” says Dan ok, President of Skanska in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

SkyBau has sales of approximately SEK 250 M and approximately 350 employees.

Skanska Czech Republic and Slovakia, which is the largest construction company in the Czech Republic, had revenues of about SEK 11.7 billion in 2009. The company has 6,500 employees. In the Czech Republic, Skanska is also active in the development of office properties through Skanska Commercial Development Europe.
