Skanska Buys HVAC Contractor TKI

Skanska (STO:SKAB) is to acquire all shares in the Swedish installation company TKI, which is a contracting company in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) industry, with its head office in Umeå. Sales for 2009 amounted to approximately SEK 250 M and the company has about 130 employees.

Through this acquisition, Skanska Sweden will supplement its subsidiary Skanska Installation’s offering with sound expertise in HVAC. The company will be consolidated in the Skanska Sweden business unit from January 2011 and will be part of Skanska’s Swedish installation operations. The acquisition is conditional upon approval from the Competition Authority.

The acquisition of TKI is line with Skanska’s ambition to become a complete and leading player in the area of installation. Skanska will now strengthen its development work and offering within the installation area, aimed at green solutions to Skanska’s customers. One project that will be directly affected is the new University hospital, Nya Karolinska Solna.

“We are now strengthening our expertise in climate-smart solutions to create green buildings of the future,” says Anders Danielsson, President of Skanska Sweden.

Skanska Installation is part of Skanska Sverige AB and supplies electricity, lighting, telecom, computer network and safety installations to properties and outdoor facilities. The unit also undertakes contracting and servicing of climate systems, where work is performed using energy-efficient products and system solutions. The operation currently has approximately 500 employees and the ambition is to grow and develop the operation in the coming years.
