Lou Jurkowski, FAIA and CEO at BJAC, pa an architectural firm offering professional services for specialized, complex institutional projects, has announced that its Gateway Research Building I is LEED® Silver Certified by the U.S. Green Building Council and verified by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI).

LEED is the nation’s preeminent program for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. Quotes:
“Sustainability and a green design were at the core of the design of the campus’s founding research building,” said Jurkowski. “We are excited that the project has gained LEED Silver Certification.”

“Building operations are nearly 40 percent of the solution to the global climate change challenge,” said Rick Fedrizzi, president, CEO & founding chair, U.S. Green Building Council. “While climate change is a global problem, innovative companies like BJAC are addressing it through local solutions.”

Details:
- More than 32,000 projects are currently participating in the commercial and institutional LEED rating systems, comprising 9.6 billion square feet of construction space in all 50 states and 114 countries.
