Skanska Signs Construction Contracts for Two Projects in the US

Skanska (STO:SKAB) has secured two construction assignments in the U.S. The total contract amount is USD 82 M, approximately SEK 575 M, which will be included in order bookings for the fourth quarter.

One of the contracts amounts to USD 41.3 M and is for a university building in Storrs, Connecticut. The 14,500-square-meter four-story building, which will include classrooms and lecture halls, will be constructed at the heart of the university campus, thereby placing high demands on logistics and safety. The client is University of Connecticut.

The project is designed to meet the requirements of the LEED Silver level of the LEED international environmental certification system. Work will commence this year and the project is scheduled for completion in July 2012.

The second contract amounts to USD 40.6 M and involves a four-story office building, with an adjacent one-story building and a parking garage to accommodate 200 cars. The client is the developer The Molasky Group of Companies on behalf of a government tenant.

The project, which is located close to the airport in Portland, Oregon, will be completed in 2012.
