Buyers who've pre-purchased homes in the Okanagan Valley's newest waterfront development, West Harbour, are one step closer to seeing their dream of living on the lakefront become a reality.
Homeowners joined the developers and local VIP's at the West Harbour site on Kelowna's Westside Friday for the official groundbreaking ceremony, which included the first cement pour at the highly anticipated development.
"We're so excited to begin construction on this incredible project and start getting the first residents of the West Harbour community into their new homes," says Renee Wasylyk, CEO of Troika Developments, which is working with Quadra Homes to develop West Harbour. "This is a stunning piece of view property and a rare opportunity to purchase a new lakeside home with its own boat slip and great amenities, and it will be a great addition to the Okanagan landscape."
West Harbour is located just five minutes from downtown Kelowna, on a 45-acre piece of land directly off Westside Road and close to the Old Ferry Wharf.
The development's 221 single-family homes will feature Tuscan-style architecture complimented by contemporary layouts and finishings. The private, gated community sits on a gently sloping hillside and is designed to invite enjoyment of outdoor spaces, with a family barbecue and lounge area, pools, a pedestrian-friendly grand promenade, and an extensive trail system.
"One of the best things about living in the Okanagan is that it's such a great outdoor playground," says Wasylyk. "With West Harbour we really want to nurture a true sense of community by giving people beautiful homes in a setting that provides ample opportunities to get out and be active with their friends and neighbours."
Forty-percent of the homes in phase one of West Harbour have already sold. The first residences are scheduled to be ready for occupancy by June 2011, by which time the marina and pool facilities will also be up and running.
