Intermodal Structures, Inc. (IMS) and Containers Operators SA (Contopsa, Chile) announced today an alliance to market, sell and deliver flexible, high-performance modular building solutions throughout Latin America.
The alliance is focused on meeting the growing need for quality commercial and residential buildings that can be rapidly and cost-effectively delivered virtually anywhere.
Featuring sturdy steel-frame construction and seismic and hurricane resistant design, the IMS buildings are ideally suited for locations where conventional construction is not feasible or practical. The alliance between IMS and Contopsa covers the full family of IMS high-performance modular structures with delivery of the first IMS building in South America now complete in San Antonio, Chile, where it is being used as the cornerstone classroom in a major new elementary school construction project.
"We see a rapidly growing need throughout South America for quality, cost-effective buildings that have the design flexibility to be used in a wide range of geographies and for varying purposes, and the IMS structures meet our needs ideally," said Francis McCawley, Managing Director of Contopsa. "Our alliance with IMS opens the entire region to this innovative new modular building solution, which is already in use at San Antonio, Chile. This school project exemplifies our joint ability to move fast, configure a facility to the precise needs of the customer, and to so with a solution that can grow flexibility and cost-effectively to meet new space demands."
The IMS alliance with Contopsa leverages a strategic partnership between IMS and the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group of companies to design, manufacture, market and deliver the innovative new IMS modular building system globally. The IMS relationship with Maersk takes advantage of the unequalled global manufacturing, logistics, and distribution capabilities of the Maersk companies, providing an immediate global footprint for the proven delivery of the new IMS modular buildings.
"Our alliance with Contopsa is another major milestone in our plans to redefine the modular building industry," said John Diserens, Partner of Intermodal Structures, of San Francisco. "We set out to deliver a unique, high performance modular building solution for large scale production anywhere in the world, and our relationship with Contopsa further validates our strategy and plan."
