Swisstrax, manufacturer of interlocking, modular garage floor tile, has received 4 and 5 MR credits in LEED certification of their recycled flooring product line - EcoTrax.
Philip Culen of Manex, a consultant to California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery’s Tire-Derived Product Business Assistance Program noted in a letter to Swisstrax “I am pleased to inform you that we have received all of the necessary documentation to establish that we can provide third-party verification that your Ecotrax recycled flooring product meets the requirements for incorporation into building projects requiring recycled content.”
The recycled flooring tiles also underwent a comparison with epoxy coatings on carbon footprint as well as lifetime costs. In the report, the third party noted “Investing up front in a durable, environmentally friendly garage tile solution from Swisstrax instead of an epoxy coating, will significantly lower your lifetime cost of ownership and give your home a smaller carbon footprint and a more durable, lower maintenance garage flooring solution.”
