Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced it will showcase green building technologies and other leading energy-efficient products and services at The White House Council on Environmental Quality’s inaugural GreenGov Symposium, October 5 -7, 2010.
The event will be hosted by the George Washington University on its Foggy Bottom Campus in Washington, D.C., in conjunction with the one-year anniversary of the signing of the Executive Order on Federal Leadership in Environmental, Energy, and Economic Performance (13514) by President Obama. Opening day keynote speakers include U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack.
Eaton, exclusive industry sponsor at the Platinum Level of the Symposium, will lead an open forum on the government’s role in sustainability in buildings and join a panel discussion on electric vehicles and related infrastructure. The company also will exhibit an array of green technologies including energy-efficient lighting and other sustainable solutions that help buildings use less power; effective technologies for more efficient vehicle fleets, such as hybrid power systems and electric vehicle charging units; and uninterruptible power systems and other innovations to help data centers operate with greater reliability and efficiency.

The 2010 GreenGov Symposium is focused on the performance goals set by President Obama in his Executive Order 13514 on Federal Leadership in Environmental, Energy, and Economic Performance signed on October 5, 2009. The Executive Order commits the Federal Government to leading by example in its operations by requiring Federal agencies to set greenhouse gas reduction targets, increase energy efficiency, reduce fleet petroleum consumption, conserve water, reduce waste, support sustainable communities and leverage Federal purchasing power to promote environmentally responsible products and technologies.
