Tutor Perini Corporation (NYSE: TPC), a leading civil and building construction company, today announced that it has been awarded a contract from Genting New York LLC, the developers of the Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens, New York, to renovate the existing grandstand to create a new Video Lottery Facility, which will contain a multi-level casino with 4,500 Video Lottery Terminals as well as several dining venues and retail space. The construction value is estimated to be $241 million.
The project, known as Resorts World New York, includes a newly-constructed entrance lobby, a newly-constructed porte-cochere, and the construction of a new elevated and covered walkway connecting to the existing Aqueduct transit station. Improvements to the existing building exterior, roadways, parking lots and landscaping are also included in the project.
In addition, the project includes construction of a new, above grade multi-level parking structure designed to provide approximately 2,100 parking spaces and provide direct access to the Video Lottery Facility. This structure will include bus drop-off and lobby facilities.
Construction will begin around November 1, 2010 and will take approximately 18 months to complete. The work will be completed in three stages, allowing areas of the facility to open and operate prior to completion of the entire project.
