Turner Construction Company, the nation's largest builder of education facilities, was selected by the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) to manage construction of two elementary schools and one high school in Los Angeles, Calif. totaling $102 million.
Since 2003, Turner has managed construction for more than 20 schools for the Los Angeles Unified School District, representing a total construction value of more than $600 million.
Turner has been awarded a contract to construct the South Region Elementary School No. 11, a $22.5 million elementary school located in Los Angeles, Calif. totaling 63,400 sq. ft. The facility will include 32 classrooms, library, kitchen and administrative space and will feature an exterior courtyard, exterior walkways and a separate fenced playground area for the Kindergarten students. Completion is scheduled for November 2012.
Turner will also manage construction of South Region Elementary School No. 12, a $23.5 million elementary school in Los Angeles, Calif. that will accommodate 800 students on a 4-acre site. The scope of work includes a 67,500 sq. ft. facility featuring 32 classrooms, a kitchen, outdoor cafeteria space, playgrounds, natural turf fields and parking for 72 vehicles. Completion is scheduled for November 2012
In addition, Turner will manage construction of $56 million South Region High School No. 15 in Los Angeles, Calif. The 133,000 sq. ft. project consists of two learning communities on a 26 acre site. The scope of work includes construction of eight buildings featuring 30 classrooms, performing arts spaces, a library, multi-purpose room, gymnasium, food service and lunch shelter, indoor dining room, administration support services, playfields, pool and surface parking. Completion is scheduled for September 2012.
The Los Angeles Unified School District honored Turner Construction Company as the "2008 Contractor of the Year" Award for exceeding expectations and the company's exemplary contribution to the New School Construction Program and its commitment to safety practices on the LAUSD projects.
