Cutting energy costs and improving building performance is of paramount importance for today’s building owners and operators.
In response to these challenges, Green Building Services Inc. (GBS) and BOMA Portland (Portland Metropolitan Building Owners and Managers Association) developed a new Web-based technical solution – Building Insights O+M Track™ – which supports ongoing operational improvements and maintenance processes critical to high-performance buildings.
According to Elaine Aye, IIDA, USGBC Faculty, Principal at GBS, this O+M tracking framework includes plans, programs, logs, surveys and calculators as well as best practice policies in categories such as green cleaning and purchasing. “O+M Track provides genuine value to owners and managers with infrastructure to help identify cost-of-ownership savings and streamline the reporting process into one efficient tool.”
O+M Track offers a comprehensive view of operations and maintenance activities and aligns with LEED EB: O+M reporting requirements, encouraging compliance under LEED for Existing Buildings.
GBS and BOMA Portland created the secure-host, Web-based delivery system for easy information upload into the central tracking database.
“This partnership with GBS is helping to develop a tool that addresses a clear need in our industry and for our membership,” explains Susan Steward, executive director of BOMA Portland.
O+M Track works for multiple building types and is ideally suited for owners who:
- want to track the performance of multiple building assets.
- track ongoing performance of LEED certified buildings.
- seek to demonstrate green leadership in their Class A buildings.
- want to understand their baseline building performance.
