Reportlinker.com announces that a new market research report is available in its catalogue: World Drywall & Building Plasters http://www.reportlinker.com/p089429/World-Drywall--Building-Plasters.html
Global demand to advance 7.7% annually through 2014
Worldwide drywall demand is forecast to advance 7.7 percent per annum through 2014 to more than ten billion square meters, a substantial improvement over the 2004-2009 pace. Four-fifths of all new product demand generated during the 2009-2014 period will be attributable to the US and the Asia/Pacific region. Drywall sales in the US are predicted to grow nine percent annually through 2014 as the country's housing market recovers from a period of significant turmoil. Residential building construction spending will grow at a double-digit annual pace during this time. The drywall market in the Asia/Pacific region will record faster growth through 2014 than any other regional market. Rapid residential and nonresidential building construction expenditures growth will stimulate product sales in the area. The residential drywall market will record faster growth through 2014 than its nonresidential counterpart. Population growth and additional demand for urban housing will spur residential building construction activity and associated product demand in industrializing regions. Drywall will also be used more frequently in residential applications in the future, as local construction firms adopt modern building construction techniques. The US, however, will be responsible for one half of all new residential drywall demand during the 2009-2014 period, reflecting rapid building construction spending gains. The Asia/Pacific region, Western Europe and North America are the world's leading producers of drywall, accounting for a combined 89 percent of global output in 2009. The largest manufacturers in these areas are the US, China, Japan, Germany, the UK, France and Canada, each with industry shipments of more than 200 million square meters in 2009. A number of countries in the Asia/Pacific region are expected to post large gains, including China, India, Thailand and South Korea. China alone will account for 40 percent of all new global product demand between 2009 and 2014.
Gypsum-based building plasters see slower growth
Worldwide demand for gypsum-based building plasters is projected to advance 5.2 percent per annum to 36.2 million metric tons in 2014. The building plaster market will experience somewhat slower growth through 2014 than the drywall market, as construction firms in many countries adopt drywall-based building construction techniques (at the expense of wet construction, which employs more building plasters per unit) because of rising labor costs. At the global level, drywall demand is 2.5 times greater (on a weight basis) than demand for gypsumbased building plasters.
Study coverage
This new industry study presents historical demand data (1999, 2004 and 2009) plus forecasts for 2014 and 2019 for drywall supply and demand in six regions and 17 countries. The study also considers market environment factors, evaluates company market share and profiles 25 industry players.
