Home Star Legislation for Window Film to be Considered in the U.S. Senate

International Window Film Association (IWFA) president John Parker and executive director Darrell Smith today issued the following joint statement in response to the inclusion of Home Star rebates for high performance window film products under comprehensive energy legislation which is scheduled to be considered in the U.S. Senate this summer.

“Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-NV) decision to recognize window film in energy legislation is welcomed news that will help facilitate job creation and greater energy savings for American consumers, particularly those who have fallen on hard economic times. This type of leadership, along with the tireless work of Senator Jeff Bingaman (D-NM) and others on Home Star legislation, represent a real commitment to America’s families, seniors, workforce, and businesses.

“As the U.S. House of Representatives has already recognized the benefits of window film and passed Home Star legislation (H.R. 5019), it is more important than ever for the Senate to embrace measures that allow homeowners to receive rebates for the installation of high performance window film products.

“The window film industry stands ready to work with Congress to continue to advance common sense, responsible policies that recognize highly efficient window film as a critical and effective energy savings measure.”
