The 2010 Comparative Analysis of Residential Heating Systems by Newport Partners LLC, and a free online training course are now available at www.buildwithpropane.com.
Commissioned by the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC), the study and training course helps construction professionals navigate through the complex process of selecting home heating systems that are well-suited for their geographic region and their customers' preferences.
"Homeowners look to construction professionals for their expertise when selecting a heating system that meets their preferences in terms of upfront investment and monthly costs as well as their commitment to the environment," said Tracy Burleson, director of residential programs for PERC. "The 2010 Comparative Analysis of Residential Heating Systems and online training course provide construction professionals with the tools they need to make homes more energy efficient and meet homeowner demands."
The study evaluated new and existing homes in 16 U.S. locations using propane, heating oil and electric energy sources for 14 different types of heating and cooling systems. Key metrics, including annual operating cost, site to source CO2 emissions, upfront cost and return on investment were included in the analysis. To help construction professionals identify which heating systems work best for their region, the findings of the study are categorized by six U.S. climate zones.
