Stio Roofing & Construction, LLC, of the Twin Cities, packed up its tools, equipment, materials and crews last Friday morning and took them to Wadena in hopes of helping the storm ravaged residents. Initially, the company is offering Wadena residents free tarping to help stem the tide of destruction they have already experienced. The free tarping services will temporarily shelter damaged homes and buildings from further wind and rain damage.
CJ deStefano, the owner of Stio Roofing & Construction said, "The folks in Wadena are no different than us, they work hard, take care of their families, and have their hopes and dreams, just like we do. I can't even imagine what it would be like to be in their shoes! This is a time when you've got to set your stuff aside and be a good neighbor."
This is not the first time Stio Roofing & Construction has been a good neighbor. In 2007 the company offered its services to the popular ABC Television Show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," and helped build a home for the Swenson-Lee Family, of Minnetonka. The experience was so positive and uplifting that they were asked to help a second time, by helping "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" renovate and remodel the home of St. Paul resident, Sandy Morris.
Stio Roofing & Construction specializes in roofing, siding fascia, gutters, chimney repair, sheetrock, taping, mudding, interior and exterior painting which are currently enormous needs in the Wadena area. "Right now," said deStefano, "the most important thing is just to get things covered and protected from the elements, so we thought the best way we could help is to do tarping, free of charge, for anyone who needs it."
"We're a roofing and construction company, and this is how we earn our living," deStefano said, "but stuff like this is about so much more than earning a living - it's about doing the right thing, and at the end of the day you can't put a price on that. We're going to be here until they don't need us anymore."
