SNC-Lavalin Wins EPC Contract for CentrePort Canada Way Corridor

SNC-Lavalin is pleased to announce that it has been awarded an engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) contract by Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation to design and build a four-lane, four-kilometre section of a divided expressway linking Winnipeg's inland port to the James A. Richardson International Airport and the Perimeter Highway.

The $142-million contract is part of the development of CentrePort Canada Way, a new 10 km corridor that will run through 20,000 acres of industrial land in Northwest Winnipeg. The contract includes the design and construction of a system interchange, three grade separations, two major box culverts, four-kilometres of new embankment fill and four-kilometres of new concrete pavement.

"This is an essential link in the creation of Winnipeg's inland port and we look forward to working with CentrePort Canada and the Province of Manitoba," said Jim Burke, Executive Vice-President, SNC-Lavalin Group. "SNC-Lavalin is a Canadian leader in highway construction and CentrePort Canada Way will provide a high-speed transportation corridor that will enable the efficient movement of goods between Northwest Winnipeg's intermodal and distribution facilities."

Construction is underway and SNC-Lavalin's EPC work is expected to be completed in 2012. The expressway is scheduled to be open in 2014.
