LEED Gold Certification Awarded to U.S. Bank’s New Minnesota Branch

U.S. Bank has received LEED Gold certification for its new branch located at 900 W County Road 42 in Burnsville, Minn. It is the first U.S. Bank to receive a LEED Gold certification, and one of few buildings in Minnesota with the distinction.

“We are honored and grateful to be one of the shining examples of U.S. Bank’s commitment to environmentally sound business practices. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first branch bank in the state of Minnesota to receive this designation and we are very proud to receive this honor. We join with our customers in appreciating the impact that we can make together to preserve our natural resources for future generations,” said Christine Hobrough, region manager for U.S. Bank branches in the Twin Cities.

LEED, which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is a rating system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council. To achieve LEED Gold certification, U.S. Bank incorporated environmentally friendly specifications in its construction, including:

  • drought resistant landscaping;
  • low VOC emitting paints, sealants, adhesives and carpet;
  • programmable thermostats and occupancy sensors;
  • high solar reflective roofing material;
  • low flow plumbing fixtures and
  • increased insulation.

“The GOLD certification is the direct result of our focus on this area as we continuously evolve our business practices to reduce our environmental impact, while creating opportunities for our customers, employees, suppliers and communities to do the same,” said Lisa O’Brien, director of environmental affairs at U.S. Bank.

LEED certification is just one facet of U.S. Bank’s overall environmental sustainability commitment. The company has an environmental sustainability policy that focuses on climate change, internal business practices and overall stakeholder engagement. One of the commitments within the policy is to build all new ground-up facilities to LEED certification.
