Tetra Tech, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTEK) announced today that it has been awarded a $29 million contract to build a storm protection system for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) in New Orleans. This firm-fixed-price project in St. Charles Parish is the third such hurricane risk reduction contract that Tetra Tech has won since August 2009.
Tetra Tech will construct levees, sector and sluice gates, and related hurricane risk reduction infrastructure. The new work is expected to be completed in August 2011. Tetra Tech will execute this contract from its New Orleans-area offices, with support from other local Louisiana business partners.
“In this area of New Orleans, extremely low elevations make residents and businesses vulnerable to flooding, even during moderate tropical storms,” said Dan Batrack, Tetra Tech’s Chairman and CEO. “Tetra Tech is proud to support the USACE in its efforts to reduce the risk of storm damage and flooding in the Gulf Coast region.”
