Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. (NYSE: JEC) announced today that it received one of four prime Global Battlestaff and Program Support (GBPS) contract awards to support the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM).
Under the GBPS contract, Jacobs will provide services to USSOCOM headquarters staff, its service components and the Theater Special Operations Commands.
The $1.5 billion GBPS contract is the follow-on contract to the acquisition, logistics, management and business operations support (ALMBOS) contract that Jacobs has supported over the past eight years and will continue to support through May 2011. Jacobs has been supporting USSOCOM since being awarded the system engineering and technical assistance II contract in 1997.
There are currently more than 398 Jacobs' employees supporting USSOCOM worldwide under the ALMBOS contract and this GBPS contract will allow for the continued support to USSOCOM during the next five years, through May 2015. Jacobs serves as the prime contractor for the effort and draws support from both large and small business subcontractors.
In making this announcement, Jacobs President and CEO Craig Martin stated, "We have established a solid, longstanding working relationship with the U.S. Special Operations Command, and we're proud to once again be entrusted to support their operations. We look forward to our ongoing collaboration and continued success."
