O'Donnell Chosen to Construct NASA’s Logistics Facility in Maryland

NASA has selected O'Donnell Construction Company, located in Washington, D.C., for award of the Construction of the Logistics Facility (Shipping & Receiving) contract in response to the Invitation for Bids NGG10329483E.

This award is based upon the bid opening on April 20, 2010. The firm-fixed price for the basic requirement is $8,230,000 and $1,116,000 for the seven bid additives. The total firm-fixed price of this contract is $9,346,000. The period of performance for all work is 515 days from issuance of the Notice to Proceed.

The Logistics Facility will be approximately 98,000 total gross square feet and will be located at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Md. The facility will be comprised of a one-story high bay/low bay Shipping and Receiving area of approximately 25,000 gross square feet and a two-story Warehouse area of approximately 73,000 gross square feet.

The basic requirement includes site work (clearing, grading, earthwork, auger-cast-in-place pile and pile cap foundations, structural slab on grade), a pre-engineered metal building and standing metal seam roof, interior lighting, partitions, doors and hardware, floor tile, stairs, ceiling grid, ductwork, rooftop heat pumps, bathrooms, dry pipe sprinklers, fire alarm, loading dock, overhead rolling doors and dock levelers, 13.8 kV pad mounted transformer, electrical switchboard, distribution panels, exterior lighting, convenience outlets, building grounding system. Building includes parking, road striping, sidewalk, new and upgraded roadways, temporary and permanent security fencing, underground utilities (storm drain, sanitary, water, communication, and power), erosion and sediment control, and storm water management pond. The bid additives are: improvements to Soil Conservation Road and hot mix asphalt surface for Access Road; Service Road and the Loading Dock; 2-Bay Center Distribution Loading Dock; 4-Bay Center Disposal Loading Dock; main parking Lot and site lighting; elevator; and full lighting for Shipping & Receiving, Warehouse first and second floors.
