Stainless Steel Electrical Conduit and Barrier Glands Suit Both Onerous and Hazardous Areas

As part of its Liquid Tight range, the leading electrical conduit manufacturer Kopex International offers the Stainless Steel Liquid Tight system for hazardous areas.

It has been designed to offer unrivalled cable protection in corrosive environments and can be used extensively within many hostile external applications in the offshore and petrochemical industries, desalination plants and many other hazardous areas. The conduit has a stainless steel core with a cotton packed, black PVC covering.

The choice of coverings includes oil and chemical resistant as well as limited fire hazard, thereby allowing the conduit system to be installed in many highly demanding environments. With its durability, strength, resilience and high versatility, it is an ideal choice where repeated flexing, vibrating and bending occur.

For Zone 1 explosive atmospheres, Kopex also provides the Barrier Gland including the stainless steel HC Explosion Proof Barrier Gland which has been designed for use in onerous areas where maintaining the integrity of the connector is paramount. By forming a barrier between the individual insulated conductors, the gland prevents the ingress of gases and liquids.

The HC Gland is ideally suited for installations where flammable gases or vapours may be present, such as offshore and on-shore oil and gas installations, as well as chemical plants. It also provides the necessary level of enclosure protection when conduit is to be laid under water.
