NCC Construction Sweden has secured an assignment to expand the railway stretch between Velanda and Prässebo on the Norway/Vänerbanan line south of Trollhättan. This is the third phase and is part of the double-track expansion between Gothenburg and Trollhättan. The client is the Swedish Transport Administration through BanaVäg i Väst and the order is valued at approximately SEK 203 million.
The railway section between Velanda and Prässebo, which is about 7.6 kilometers long, will be expanded to form a double-track railway on which the highest speed limit will be 250 km/h. In addition to railway works, NCC’s assignment includes the construction of five bridges.
This phase is the sixth assignment secured by NCC in the railway expansion between Gothenburg and Trollhättan, the aim of which is to facilitate commuting between the cities by creating a modern, attractive and secure rail link for passenger and freight transports.
Work on the railway will commence immediately and is scheduled for completion in 2012. The project will employ an average of 40 individuals.
