Sungevity Requests Public to Support Installation of Solar Panels on White House

Jimmy Carter did it in 1979: he installed solar panels on the White House roof to demonstrate the tremendous potential of harnessing the power of the sun to fuel a portion of its electrical needs and protect the environment. Ronald Reagan undid it: he had the panels removed in 1986. It’s time for the current administration to install solar panels on the roof of the White House for good and serve as an example to the rest of the country that solar energy is not only a viable option in protecting the environment (and our wallets) but has become an accessible option for homeowners across the country.

Sungevity, the leader in online residential solar power, has sent a request to the Obama administration and the Department of the Interior to accept their offer of a free solar power system. To encourage the White House and Department of the Interior to accept the offer and demonstrate true environmental and fiscal leadership, Sungevity is today asking the public to show their support and sign the electronic Globama petition. The petition, which can be signed at www.solaronthewhitehouse.com, will be shared with the President once it has received 10,000 signatures.

The goal of the petition and campaign is to drive awareness of the ease and affordability now available to homeowners and the dramatic effects it can have on not only slowing global warming, but also saving consumers money on their monthly power bill. Installing a solar panel system is now available with zero money down lease options that save consumers on average 15% from day one. And only with Sungevity, the ordering process can be done online, using satellite imagery to design the system and provide consumers with a firm iQuote. The campaign will be supported with aggressive viral and media outreach as well as digital advertising.
