White Roofs Help Mitigate Urban Heat Island Effect Better During Heat Waves

It is well established that white roofs can help mitigate the urban heat island effect, reflecting the sun's energy back into space and reducing a city's temperature under normal weather conditions. In a new study of Guangzhou, China, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab) researchers working with Chinese scientists found that during a heat wave, the effect is significantly more pronounced.

DrJ Engineering is an ANSI ISO/IEC 17065 accredited certification body and compliant with IBC Section 1703.

Detroit Downtown Development Authority Approves $52 Million in Construction Contracts for Detroit Events Center

At the recommendation of Olympia Development of Michigan, the Downtown Development Authority approved nearly $52 million in new contracts today for work on the new Detroit Events Center, raising the total dollars of contracts awarded for the massive catalyst development project to more than $257 million.

Marriott Closes $500 Million Construction Loan to Construct Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center

Marriott International, Inc., together with the owner and development partnership led by RIDA Development Corp. and Ares Management, L.P., announced today the closing of a $500 million construction loan from Wells Fargo Bank as lead agent for construction of the two million square foot and 1,500 room Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center in Aurora, Colorado. The hotel is scheduled to be completed in late 2018.

Argento Wins Award for Best New Commercial Building Construction in Queens

On December 3rd 2015, at the 90th Annual Building Awards & Gala, The Queens Chamber of Commerce presented the award for Best Commercial Building Construction in Queens to Argento Construction for the construction of a two-story building for client Carpet Time. This project was completed in 2015 and is a ground up three-level retail building comprised of approximately 35,000 sq. ft. located at 53-03 Broadway in the Woodside/Astoria area Queens.
