Kent School of Architecture Celebrates the Recent Validation of its Programmes by RIBA

Kent School of Architecture at the University of Kent is celebrating the recent validation of its programmes by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).

The validation, which has been confirmed as the fastest ever for a school of architecture, confirms that:

The BA (Hons) Architecture (Part 1) and MArch (Part 2) programmes have been validated by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) for the maximum period.

The School received prescription for all its architecture awards from the Architects’ Registration Board (ARB) in February 2006.

Don Gray, Professor of Architecture and Head of the Kent School of Architecture, said: ‘We are absolutely delighted to have received our validation so quickly. This means that all our final year students for 2006 have graduated with the benefit of RIBA Part 1 and Part 2 and are now able to present their proven credentials in a global market place.’

In May, the Kent School of Architecture celebrated both its first anniversary and the prescription of its awards by the Architects Registration Board (ARB) with an official launch, exhibition and open lecture by the RIBA Vice-President for Education, Simon Allford.

‘All in all,’ said Professor Gray, ‘this has been a joyful and eventful year for staff and students in the School. I am now looking forward to developing our relationship with architecture and regeneration in the region, focusing on our role as a provocative and stimulating School which can challenge conventional design thinking.’
