Second Factory Commissioned by PEB Steel

PEB Steel Ltd., a European maker of pre-engineered steel buildings, has inaugurated a second factory it built in Vietnam, with a special construction design and an ability to stand severe weather conditions.

Sami Nour Kteily, general director of PEB Steel, told the Daily that the US$6-milion factory in the southern province of Ba Ria- Vung Tau showed that industrial steel buildings could be designed to look aesthetic.

The new building adjacent to the first in Dong Xuyen Industrial Park has a sloping roof and is built up using a combination of castellated beams and open-web-joists, which are produced by PEB Steel.

The factory’s roof is covered by LokSeam®, a water leak proof roofing system introduced to Vietnam by PEB Steel a year ago.

The building’s design meets U.S standards, so it can protect the factory covering 43,000 square meters from harsh conditions even in heavy rainstorms.

Sami Nour Kteily said at the “Construction Night” last Friday, sponsored by PEB Steel to introduce the launch of its second factory to customers and associates in the construction industry, that Vietnam was an attractive market for steel manufactures.

This is because more investors are coming to Vietnam and the demand for building is big, he said.

Manager of the new factory Samuel Wu said 60% of its output would be for the local market and the rest for foreign markets.

PEB Steel has five offices in Vietnam, with one in Haiphong, one in Danang, one in Can Tho and two in HCMC.

Since it started up business Southeast Asia in 1994. PEB Steel has contributed to constructing more than 3,000 buildings in the region, including the Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand.
